DNA repair. Perhaps one of the more musical-sounding proteins that researchers have found so far is thimidylate synthase A (ThyA), which is involved in synthesizing and repairing DNA. It is thought that high levels of human ThyA may play a role in a patient’s response to some types of cancer treatment. Miller and Takahashi used this protein as the main example in their paper, published in Genome Biology. The music, played back, strikes Takahashi as more "jazzy" than most sequences do.
