The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is a new, space-based telescope being developed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center as the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope.  It will search for clues about the formation of the first stars and galaxies, the evolution of galaxies, the production of elements by stars, and the process of how stars and planetary systems were formed.

This video includes interviews with scientists who are involved with JWST, animation which shows the observatory throughout deployment, and manufacturing footage of observatory’s mirror segments.
