Flexible metallic microwires are produced by injecting heated, liquid solder into microfluidic channels and cooling them. The method can produce complex microstructures that can be twisted (as shown), tied into a knot, rolled, or woven into fabrics. The method could also be used in flexible electronic circuits, 3-D metallic microstructures, and hybrid electronic-microfluidic devices.
