Amplifying color: There's a novel method for generating color in displays. Tiny cells consisting of pairs of reflective surfaces make up each pixel. Depending on the size of the gaps between the surfaces, constructive or destructive interference is generated to specific wavelengths of light, causing some to cancel themselves out (blue and green, in this case) while others are amplified (red). The overall effect in this example is to make the cell appear red.
