In a hangar at MIT last week, the engineering team put the finishing touches on the autonomous Land Rover, named Talos, which the researchers will enter in the Urban Challenge. Pictured here is the front end of Talos with the hood up. Mounted to the bumper are laser range finders (with white mounts) that can detect objects at a range of about 20 meters, and radar units (black boxes) that provide a longer detection range: 50 to 60 meters.
